Friends gathered at Regency House, a "retirement community" here, to convince our mutual friend "Bird" to move from her isolated home in Jackson, Butts County, Ga. She is 86! No one seems to be able to comprehend why she wants to stay in her familiar surroundings, in the middle of nowhereland, Rednecksville. We have all pledged to persuade her to simplify her life.......However, when I place myself in her position....I can see why she doesn't want to go to the bother to adapt to a new scenario....Change is difficult at any age. Now, if I can just exercise the sensibility that we ask of her...when I'm her age......It'll be interesting to see how all the people in this picture face old age......not that I'll be around to see a couple of them have to do that!
