discussing 'censorship' and religious bias...this morning.....a friend commented on what she thought was 'the open-mindedness of 1950s Youth" (!)........For whatever reason, I recalled a snippet of history.......A popular song, when I was 7, was "TELL ME A STORY", which sold millions of records and was 'on the radio', constantly.......The Catholic Church objected to the 'cover' photo for the song....that had been utilized by Sak's 5th Ave, in a X'mas promotion......on the grounds that "Mommy" was being sexually compromised by that old, and presumably, lecherous, St. Nickolas.....When the song's young singer, 13-year old Jimmy Boyd, and the song's writer, Tommie Conner explained that the "Santa" was actually her "Husband"...which, of course, made everything AOK......the Church dropped its 'charges'......The "Religious" ruled in the 50's.....when "Thinking" was practically and shamefully prohibited.....especially "Thinking Outside the Box"......and was too filled with preconceptions, prejudices, illogical and syllogistic analogies to have any room left for open-ended considerations or intelligent dialogue........And this observation leads me to think of the still-pervasive mindsets of Donald Trump's hypnotized by fixed thinking devotees........get my drift?
