IN 1994 Kevin was in the Sudan, as a photographer. He came across this pathetic scene of a vulture waiting for this child to die of famine. Kevin spend half an hour setting up for the photoshoot, not offered to tend the child or offer her water or emotional support.....After the shoot, Kevin left....without assisting the dying child...... got megabucks and a Pulitzer Prize for the photo......... then went into a terrible depression, feeling guilty and responsible for his insensitivity. Three months later, Kevin committed suicide.........So many photographers hide their emotions, even deny then altogether......behind the viewfinders of mechanical equipment, between the covers of coffee table books or any other displacement that is available to assist in the denial process that has already fucked up their lives and permitted them to stand outside others' pain and suffering with eyes, looking yet not seeing.........Like the people who watch television programs about people being devoured by sharks or fighting with knives...to the death! They must be really, really sad..... deep within!
