SEQUE OF "The Numbers"........The Compliance of Statistical Intervention between Clear Thinking and Mitigated Expression.......

 

The 'Numbers'.....I loathed 'Statistics and Probability Theory' when I was 20, at University.......Perhaps, I should have paid more attention, then, because not 5 minutes of 'the News' passes without us being shown graphs and charts.....statistics...with probabilities....Interestingly enough, these 'numbers' vary with their 'Sources'..... I remember ads, on TV and Magazines.....utilizing 'statistics' to sell products, ideologies....well, just about everything.....This works to sell both Denial and Fear, with some tongue-in-cheek paradox.....Arthur Godfrey died, by the way, from smoking-related emphysema and pneumonia. "Statistics and Probabilities' are agents of societal manipulation.....We Trust the "Numbers', don't we? Listen to ANY political speech......there will be 'numbers'.....numbers, slanted to make the speaker's point seem well taken, valid and prognosticatory....at least, until hindsight kicks us in the forehead......
