the furs

 
 


a dozen old furs, including an old Revillon rug, lie about.....
i feel like a visitor in Kubla Khan's tent....
although i have mixed feelings about "FUR", some part of me just loves
it......
warm, soft, light and beautiful....too bad that it
is stripped from the carcasses of killed and mutilated animals
....I have friends who will not wear leather shoes or drink milk, eat eggs
or use a sable brush......this has always been somewhat
of a conundrum for me.....i don't even like to kill insects!

an oblique analogy: Thomas Jefferson who stated, famously, that
"all men are created equal, and......." and although he had a black lover for many years, he refused, even in old age, to relinquish his slaves,
dying on the 4th of July, ironically....within minutes of another hypocrite, John Adams.
what a hypocrite I am, also!
