THERE "IS" AN 'OFF' SWITCH, YOU KNOW......AND YOU CAN GET 'OFF' YOUR PHONES, TOO, FOLKS!
THE AVERAGE AMERICAN CHECKS THEIR PHONE 205 TIMES A DAY....WHICH IS ONCE EVERY FIVE MINUTES OF THEIR WAKING HOURS
If you are online, you should assume that you already have NO privacy and act accordingly. Every mouse click and keystroke is tracked, logged and potentially analyzed and eventually used by Web site product managers, marketers, hackers and others. To use most services, users have to opt-in to lengthy terms and conditions, that few even bother to read...so eager they are to 'make contact', even in the most meaninglessly inane and desperate ways, that allow their "data" to be crunched and exploited.
The list of tracking devices is pre-programmed and set to boom, as sensors are added to appliances, lights, locks, HVAC systems, toilets, faucets, security systems, and even trash cans. Other innovations: Using Wi-Fi signals, for instance, to track movements, from where you’re driving or walking down to your heartbeat. Retailers will use/are using the technology to track in minute detail how folks walk around a store and reach for products, as well as how they interact with one another in the contexts of sub-conscious manipulations. Transcription software will be so 'evolved' that many businesses will collect mountains of phone-conversation, internet messaging, and e-mail data to mine, analyze and exploit.
And think of this: Most of us already carry around an always-on tracking device for which we usually pay ever-increasing amounts of money — a smart phone. Your phone is loaded up with sensors and GPS data. Is it linked to a FitBit perhaps? Now it has your health data. We are marketed these devices as Necessities, as Prestige and Social Status 'Items', and will actually pay those who are already exploiting them... to gain Alpha Status, mocking those who sport a ten year old 'flip phone' with constant 'monitoring'.....The 'planned' obsolescence of ALL these electronic servants/spies is perpetuated by the constant 'updates' that, eventually, make the devices either inoperative, having been bloated with even more 'software', largely developed to mine data....... (refusing these updates WILL extend the useful lifetime of one's electronic machines)..... This, having led billions to toss or 'trade in' phones and computers....even vehicles and TV's.......as their 'old' stuff becomes obsolete and 'unsupported'.......three year olds.....like a couple of years..... is now 'old'......pieces of plastic, filled with batteries and poisonous-to-the-Environment chemicals, and routinely tossed to the landfills with trillions of tons of other detritus........
The latest frontier: Using phones to track the spread of COVID-19. Thanks to Bluetooth, your phone can track who you’ve been near and for how long. Even your casual face-to-face conversation.....as in a 'real' conversation....can be hacked into and exploited, even when you 'believe' that your phone is 'not listening'......."Hey, Google~"......:Yes, you can say things like 'turn on flashlight' or 'where on a map....am I?' or 'does my next door neighbor have a criminal record?'......or 'Google, what is that song that's playing on the FM station that I'm listening to......please?"........Oh, the little round 'device' didn't 'get that'! The 'Song' was not in the database of 'popular Liked Music'.....{not 'enough' listeners have interest in Charles-Valentin Alkan: Concerto for Solo Piano......
My advice: give those 'devices' some down time....turn them off, except when they are absolutely necessary (which is now becoming NEVER, alas) Cover the cameras on your appliances....Pay CASH...as in folding money and coins.....for everything that you can.....Leaving ones electronic devices, powered down, in a lead-lined shoe box, is the modern equivalent of tossing heroin delivery syringes and needles into the trash...... What! No PICTURE?
and.....just minutes ago...as I was checking out the schedule for The Atlanta Symphony's Concerts.....THIS pops up....on ASO's Website!
