American Psycho -Business Card Scene

Planned Obsolescence.....It's just another manifestation of Glamour, after all........A pair of tennis shoes that I've had for 40 years are in better condition than a pair, by the same manufacturer, that are 5 years old.......Scrutinizing both pairs, i noted that the older shoes were 'bound' with ultra-heavy stitches of heavy cotton thread.....the new ones, sloppily sewn, with cheap, fragile polyester thread......the older shoes' 'canvas' was also a half millimeter thicker.....every part of the new 'stuff' seems shoddy and cheap....yet the prices of these Products keep rising...... the 'Logos' are larger.....because the Brands are selling just that......'logos', branding, and the perceptive illusion of 'Prestige Purchasing'......So many seem to be suffering, already, begging for money to pay their credit card bills that, often, are just lists of this junk that the emerging 'upper middle classes' are mindlessly accumulating......I thought of that hapless Park family in the film, Parasite....and of Patric Bateman.......
